If you have found yourself asking, “What is CBD?”, look no further. Cannabidiol (CBD) is one of at least 85 cannabinoids found in cannabis and industrial hemp. It is a major constituent of the plant, and represents up to 40% in its extracts. It is the decarboxylated form of CBDa (the ‘a’ means acid). Compared with THC, cannabidiol is considered to have a broader scope of medical applications than THC. Cannabidiol has displayed sedative effects in animal tests. Other research indicates that CBD increases alertness. CBD has been shown to reduce growth of aggressive human breast cancer cells in vitro, and to reduce their invasiveness [source].
CBD also promotes and supports the nutritional health of aging bodies. Source: US Government patent on Cannabinoids as Antioxidants and Neuroprotectants #6,630,507
